What Is a PRP Facial?

The PRP Facial, commonly known as the 'vampire facial,' is a regenerative skin treatment that uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood to rejuvenate and repair your skin from within.

Here's the science: a small sample of your blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors found naturally in your plasma. This golden serum is then applied topically and/or micro-injected into the skin, where those growth factors stimulate collagen production, accelerate cell turnover, and trigger your skin's natural healing response.

The result is fresher, firmer, more luminous skin, without a single synthetic ingredient.

At JLoo Beauty Experts, located at 505 8th Ave in Midtown Manhattan, PRP facials are administered by Joanne Loo, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with MD oversight from Medical Director Dr. Jade Hon. We take a results-driven, safety-first approach, which is why we often pair or upgrade PRP with PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) for clients who want even more advanced regenerative results. Ask us which is right for your skin.

PRP Facial Results: What Real Clients Experience

Most clients notice an immediate post-treatment glow within 24 to 48 hours as initial healing begins. Deeper improvements, including firmer skin, reduced fine lines, and more even tone, continue to develop over 4 to 8 weeks as new collagen forms.

For best results, we recommend a series of 3 PRP facials spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments once or twice per year help sustain your results over time.

Clients commonly report improvements in:

  • Fine lines and early wrinkles
  • Skin texture and smoothness
  • Dullness and uneven skin tone
  • Mild acne scarring
  • Overall radiance and firmness
  • Skin hydration levels
Downtime is minimal. Most clients experience 24 to 48 hours of redness, similar to a mild sunburn. Many return to normal activity the day after treatment.
The Client Journey

Your PRP Facial Experience at JLoo Beauty Experts

Step 1

Skin Consultation and Assessment

We begin with a thorough consultation and 3D skin analysis to understand your skin concerns and customize your PRP protocol.

Step 2

Blood Draw

A small blood sample, similar in volume to a routine lab draw, is taken from your arm. This takes under 5 minutes.

Step 3

PRF Preparation

Your blood is processed in a centrifuge for 10 to 12 minutes to separate and concentrate your platelet-rich plasma.

Step 4

Skin Prep and Numbing

A medical-grade topical numbing cream is applied to maximize your comfort during the treatment. We allow 20 to 30 minutes for full effect.

Step 5

PRP Application

Depending on your skin goals, we apply your PRP topically and/or via micro-injections. The treatment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Step 6

Post-Treatment Care

A soothing serum is applied immediately after. You'll leave with a full aftercare protocol and your next appointment scheduled.

Total appointment time: approximately 75 to 90 minutes.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About PRP Facials in NYC

What exactly is a vampire facial, and is it the same as a PRP facial?

Yes. 'Vampire facial' is the popular name for the PRP facial. It got the nickname because it involves drawing a small amount of your own blood, spinning it to extract platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and applying that plasma to your skin. Despite the dramatic name, the treatment is medically safe, relatively comfortable with numbing, and highly effective. At JLoo Beauty Experts in Midtown Manhattan, we perform this procedure with clinical precision in a medspa setting.

How is a PRP facial different from PRF microneedling?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) are both derived from your own blood, but PRF is a more advanced formulation. PRF contains no anticoagulants, releases growth factors more slowly for sustained results, and includes a fibrin matrix and white blood cells that further enhance healing. Many clients start with a PRP facial and upgrade to PRF microneedling for deeper, longer-lasting regenerative benefits. We're happy to help you decide during a consultation.

Is a PRP facial painful?

Most clients find the treatment very tolerable. We apply a medical-grade topical numbing cream 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure, which significantly reduces discomfort. You may feel mild pressure or warmth during the application, but true pain is rare. The blood draw is the same as a standard lab test. We always check in with you throughout the session to ensure your comfort.

How long do PRP facial results last?

Results from a single PRP facial typically last 1 to 2 months, with the most noticeable collagen improvements appearing 4 to 8 weeks after treatment. With a full series of 3 treatments, results can be maintained for 6 months to a year with proper skincare and sun protection. Periodic maintenance sessions help extend and sustain your results over time.

How much does a PRP facial cost in NYC?

Pricing is discussed during your consultation, as protocols are customized to your skin and goals. We offer Cherry Pay financing so cost doesn't have to be a barrier to great skin. Contact us at (917) 905-4683 or book online at our Midtown Manhattan medspa to get personalized pricing and package information.

Can I get a PRP facial if I'm on blood thinners or have certain health conditions?

Certain medications and health conditions may affect your candidacy for a PRP facial. Blood thinners, active skin infections, platelet disorders, and some autoimmune conditions may be contraindications. This is one of the key reasons it matters that your provider is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with MD oversight. We screen carefully and never cut corners on safety. Book a consultation at JLoo Beauty Experts in Midtown NYC and we'll review your health history.
